The Education Committee is excited to present a program that we have entitled, The Cutting Edge: What’s Hot for 2008. A fantastic lineup of shops will participate in this program, each one offering ongoing 15 minute demonstrations of a great new quilting tool or technique. These tools and related items will be available for purchase. We have made sure that both traditional and contemporary quilters’ interests are represented and hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn something new.
Shops and Demonstration Topics include:
The Country Quilter - NSQG member Mary Gay Leahy will show us how to use the new Circle Magic Tool.
The City Quilter - NSQG member, Cathy Izzo, will demo a great, new yo-yo template.
Batik Timbal - Trish Hodge will demonstrate a simple batik project using paint which will appeal to both traditional and contemporary quilters.
Woodstock Supply - Jim Helms will show us creative ways to use his template line.
Quilt Cottage - NSQG member, Ellen Silver, will demo her method for making floor cloths. She’ll also be available to autograph a copy of her new book for you.
The Nimble Thimble, Inc. - Lonnie Wiener, author of a new book on thread painting, will teach her easy new technique and autograph copies of her book.
Quilt Basket, Ltd. - Cathy Andersen will show us how to construct a great new quilt using “Strips and Stones.”
Fabric Mart, Inc. - Linda Speidell will present the L’Orna tool, a new soldering iron used for embellishing.
I Dream of Beading - TBA
Ready, Set, Sharp - Matt Welstall will be back to sharpen your scissors.
Many thanks to Georgia Heller, Janice Nastasi and Dorothy Scalice for all of their help in putting this program together!
